MoverMoms Adds Meaning to Mother's Day
With Annual Muffins-4-Moms Project
If it's Mother's Day, then it's muffin season for MoverMoms. Each year at this time, the Bethesda-based non-profit group organizes Muffins-4-Moms, a muffin delivery program in which women in the 200-plus member group bring muffins to area shelters for homeless and recently homeless women.
"The muffins are our way of saying to these moms that they deserve a special treat and that we hope they too have a happy Mother's Day," says MoverMoms executive director Rebecca Kahlenberg. This is the fourth year that the group is doing this project and they will be delivering homemade and store-bought muffins to about a dozen shelters and day centers for women.
